Young pro Continues to Impress PDF Print E-mail

Keven Stammen seems to enjoy the bright lights. Only 23, Stammen topped Mexico’s Angel Guillen heads-up to win the $2,500 No-Limit hold’em tournament, Event 13, of the 2009 World Series of Poker at the Rio in Las Vegas. It was Stammen’s first win at a WSOP, but he has now cashed seven times.

“I’ve always been a poker player,” Stammen said. “Ever since I was like 15 or 16, I played poker in the clubs in Ohio. I used to play in some of the small tournaments they had when I was younger.”

Phil Ivey, Svetlana Gromenkova, An Tran, Matt Keikoan and Ronald Kirk – all players that have won WSOP tourneys – cashed in Event 13.

The prize pool was $2,502,400.
