Others may repeat his feat, but Frank Kassela got there first.

At one point crippled with just 5,100 chips, Kassela battled back to win Event 40, a $2,500 seven-card Razz tournament, of the 2010 World Series of Poker in Las Vegas. The victory makes the 42-year-old businessman the first player to earn two bracelets at this year’s WSOP.

“I had 5,100 chips at the start of Day 2. I got lucky,” Kassela, who cashed for the ninth time, said. “I mean, you have to get lucky, especially at Razz. I think the bets were 600-1,200 at the time, so I had like four bets left. I ended up making a hand on seventh street, and doubled up.”

Kassela’s first cash at a tournament happened at the 2003 Jack Binion World Poker Open. To date, he has won more than $1.8 million on the live circuit.

Maxwell Troy, second in Event 27, was the runner up, while Russia’s Vladimir Shchemelev finished fourth, cashing for the sixth time this year. The final table was his fourth of 2010.

Jennifer Harman, the owner of two WSOP bracelets, was sixth. With the cash – her 26th – she now ranks second, in terms of women, on the all-time list.

The eighth-place finisher, Chris Bjorin, has twice won World Series events.
